Waller Junior High

2402 Waller St, Waller, TX 77484

Waller Junior High serves 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with a curriculum designed for successful student transition into high school. Technology is being integrated into all subject areas at WJH, and our campus is currently 1 to 1 in Chromebook devices.  Waller Junior High provides a myriad of opportunities to meet the academic, physical, and social needs of the junior high school student.

The building currently housing Waller Junior High School was constructed in 1969 to serve as Waller High School. (The site was originally the location of the South Texas Baptist College which was destroyed by a hurricane in 1900.) The building became Waller Junior High School in 1998.

With a strong focus on academics, our teachers work collaboratively, in department and grade level teams, to create and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to students in the core areas of English Language Arts/Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. High school credit classes are offered to students in Foreign Language, Fine Arts, and Technology. Beyond the classroom, Waller Junior High students enthusiastically participate in extracurricular activities in Sports, Music, Theatre, Art, and Academics. In addition, Extracurricular sports opportunities abound at WJH, home to spirited football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, track, cross country, tennis, and golf teams and our Fine arts provide many exciting extracurricular moments for students.

Away from the court, fields, and stage, Bulldogs also compete well in UIL academic meets, taking pride in representing our school with a large contingent of students entering the district competition and bringing medals and ribbons back to Waller Junior High School. Students in the Gifted and Talented program are guided and encouraged to collaborate with a mentor in an advanced Independent Study Project, a proud WJH tradition. Our National Junior Honor Society promotes excellence in scholarly pursuits and character.
